A little funky on the nose, very Loire like. Leaner and greener than previous bottles. Fine but noticeable tannins. Finished with strong burnt cigarette notes. Good wine, just not profound like previous two bottles.

Vinetasters: Loire red (Wilmette, IL): Served double blind. Something reminiscent of pine on the nose, as well as tomato paste, but despite the oddity of those notes, they're actually not off-putting. Good intensity and clean red fruit, with clean minerality as well. Clearly a very nice wine. My 2nd, group's 1st.

When I grow up, I want to drink a Rougeard every month. And why the F I spend so much money buying Burgundy if this is so outrageously delicious.

Bienvenue a Champagne; 4/20/2023-4/29/2023 (Les Crayeres, various restaurants, Les Avises and a many wonderful producers): Opened and decanted and we might have gotten one of their last bottles. This was truly excellent. It’s almost a crime because the wine is much too young but it’s still really delicious. All herbal and moody and interesting. Paired very nicely with the meat course. Delicious.
