Wow. Chave does it again. Cocoa cherries. Roast meat. Violets. Palate shows big fruit and leather notes. Balanced acidity and fruit and resolves tannins. In a really good place now. Long finish. Blueberry. Way more than one should expect from negociant juice.

No formal tasting notes, but loved this bottle right now. Have had two bottles before but this one felt a few notches better. Amazing silky texture and mouthfeel. Will probably drink my final bottle soon aswell.

The tenth in a flight of world Syrahs. It stole the show! So pure, savory, meaty, smoky, and terroir-driven. Great tension, dusty tannins, beautifully balanced, incredibly long. The two or three best of the first nine Syrahs in the flight hoped to be this when they grow up. Spectacular! 93-94.

1998 - 2015 Syrah tasting Flight 3 - Textbook expression of what syrah is and should be. Garrigue, pepper, savory meats, blue and black fruits, complex and perfectly balanced. In my top 5 of the tasting.

This has evolved beautifully. I'm not sure it should be drunk by now, because this last bottle of mine is top notch -- no sign of being past the top. Nose is floral with an olive note. Fairly light feel overall, even though it is rich with flavor. Palate is savory, meaty, with some pepper and excellent balance between acid and fruit.
