Punchy nose that smells of camphor, iron, meat, rose petals and earth. It is dense with good flesh and deep black cherry fruit flavours. It has areal savoury edge and excellent length and whilst drinks well you feel the wine is still a decade or two away from its apogee.

Savoury but perfumed nose of smoked meats, iron, sweet earth and flora. Full and rich in the mouth with good depth and detail. As it breathes up the cherry fruit intensifies at the wines heart and it really fans out on the finish.

From a bottle where the vintage slip was missing, I thought it was a 96, but cork says 99. Lovely wine however, still very primary but complex, perhaps just lack a little depth, but this will come in time. Not closed but need a couple of years to peak.

This wine is showing beautifully right now, although extra time will only improve complexity. Nose was intense since the beginning mostly with primary notes, but also giving away some secondary hints such as roses and spices. The palate was equally great, dominated by fresh black fruits and hints of dark chocolate on the background. Texture-wise, the wine has great acidity and the tannins felt very velvety and well integrated. Great balance overall. Medium+ finish. Again, extra time will only improve things here.

(Simon Bize Latricieres Chambertin) The nose was like Beaucastel meets Burgundy. Horsey, bretty, barnyard right out of the gates. But soon with some aeration the funk integrated and it became much more civilized with some nice red fruit tones intermingled with a wet earth minerality. The palate was huge with sweet, ripe fruit and massive tannins. With all this weight though the wine remained elegant. Just an incredible balancing act on the palate with astounding length. There was a lingering taste of wet earth on the palate. This wine as Jacques said truly smells and tastes like an agricultural product. The purity was top-notch and this was many people's favorite wine of the night.

NM Roumier BM vertical. Smells like pickles and finishes short. Tough comp next to Roumier line-up.
