served as a dessert wine. ripen fruit, nut, almond aroma. surely can be tasted its sweet and bitter character. good tanning, acidity and concentration but no complexity.

Surprising good, although it turned into something more like a dessert wine or sherry, especially in terms of the smell. Well stored bottle, solid cork, poured an almost brownish color. almost nutty flavor with a sweet, port-like smell. Totally unexpected given previous reviews of this vintage in recent years.

Weekly tasting group #159; Wines older than 2000 (@ RW): The bouquet shows raisins, very ripe fruits, earth and some oxidation. On the palate ripe red berries, earth and soft. Overall everything is really soft and the acidity very mild, but there luckily still is some bite. I was not extremely impressed, but with some more air the wine improved in the glass. Should be drunk now or soon.

Exactly what old amarone is. The colour still bright red with moderate intensity. Nose of raisins, rubber and latex, not a great. The palate much more enjoyable. Very smooth with tannins also undetectable; intense red fruit, mostly strawberries. Good length. Interesting but glad it is not taking up room in my cellar any more.

In decline. Mildly oxidized. Old Amarone nose and taste. Drink asap.
