Amazing! So different from 1995. Much more power and several mistook it for a Bollinger 1996. Citrus, oak and burnt butter. Popcorn ripe apples and vanilla sauce. Brutal elegance!

Yellow color with moderate effervescence and with a lovely bouquet and flavor mixing citrus and just a hint of dilute balsamic vinegar. Excellent balance with nice supporting acidity and a long finish. This must be an example of "the third time's a charm," as my two previous bottles were not very compelling. Nothing better to drink on New Year's day than old Champagne.

Yellow color with moderate bubbles. No fruit left and with no transition to an old Champagne with their wonderful aromas and flavors. Simply over the hill. Drunk on Christmas morning, a family tradition. The Roederer Estate was much better.

1996 Champagne: At first it seemed quite close, giving away little; fresh and with decent balance, lacking fruit though. Some cellar-aromas that developed into something strange. Decays in the glass. Perhaps slightly corked.

Deep and powerful aromas of autolysis and citrus. Fruity and powerful on the palate for BdB, with good acidity. Lacks the elegance of the best.
