Deep garnet. Nose; plum, blackberry, a little alcohol, vanilla, lovelly spices, some menthol and licorice. Palate; a little subdued compared to the nose, tannins well integrated, the finish is balanced and polished, though a little bit short. I have no doubt this wine has the structure to age but whether that would dramatically increase the score? Second day, more oak on nose and palate very smooth and well integrated. Still good drinking from now.

Gave this a couple of hours in the decanter and it needed more than that. Prominent acidity and the structure became more evident as time went on. The fruit is no longer primary and you can see those secondary characteristics developing. It is worth mentioning that this was cork and that it had some prophylactic covering. Overall, it is nicely balanced and there is likely a few more years before it shows it's best

Very good quality wine. High acidity with well defined fruit. Blackberry, dark plum, vanilla, cream, cedar, tobacco. Medium bodied. Complex and balanced. A medium finish and that is what stops this wine being outstanding.

Coonawarra Roadshow (Ivy, George Street, Sydney): Thick, dense, black fruit, earth, eucalyptus, sweet spice. Acid line present but it's massively concentrated; drying tannins close tings down a bit but the fruit carries under this to be joined with vanilla and cream on the long finish. Time!

Peter Bourne GWT Limestone Coast Cabernets Star Performers Tasting (8 Danks street, Sydney): Muted sweet red fruit with a toasty note. There's a lovely polished oak note here as well underpinned by sweet spice. Juicy, fruity, spicy, long, plentiful tannins, rather nice.
