A blend of Sangiovese (95%) and Colorino (5%) mainly from the Rùfina subregion. Macerated with the skins for 25 days. Aged in French oak barrels for 14 months. 13,5% alcohol.
Dark, very subtly translucent blackish-red color with a hint of developed brick-orange hue. The nose feels big, sweet and moderately developed with aromas of dried black cherries, tobacco, some leathery tones, a little bit of farmhouse funk, light phenolic notes of smoke and cigar wrapper and a sweet hint of prune. The wine is dry, medium-bodied and moderately developed on the palate with a somewhat dried-up overall feel. Flavors of raisins and prune, some gamey meat light notes of tobacco, a little bit of beef jerky, a hint of sanguine iron and a touch of dried figs. The wine is still impressively structured with its high acidity and still rather grippy tannins, but the fruit department seems to be on the verge of giving up. The finish is dry, quite tannic and somewhat earthy with long flavors of sanguine iron, sour cherry bitterness, some beef jerky, a little bit of leather, light tobacco tones, a hint of gravelly minerality and a touch of crunchy cranberry.
An enjoyably tough and structured Chianti that seems to be at the end of its journey. There's still lots of structure to resolve here, but the fruit department has already dried up for the most part, retaining mainly notes of raisins, prunes and dried meat. I doubt the structure will soften up much before the fruit fades away completely, so this is definitely a drink sooner rather than later-wine. Nice, but nothing mind-blowing.

Odd. Secondary fermentation. Ok, but not memorable.

Pretty standard. Tannins light but present, very red fruit, some black pepper. Excellent with pasta.

Excellent value. Simple, but nicely balanced. A little plummy on the finish but I'm nit-picking.
