WineEP Etna lunch (Terra Rossa): Double-decanted around an hour before lunch, then had an hour or so in a decanter at the restaurant (the other wines today were popped and poured). Very sleek and rather ripe and evolved nose, the fruit seasoned by a sundried tomato note. Plummy on the palate, and surprisingly peppery, the midpalate being really quite spicy. Finally, a savoury finish. There was a certain sense of ease to this pure, sensual wine, and it was nice to drink something with a bit of development, though I wouldn't wait much longer if I had any more bottles.

Hellrot, mineralisch, leicht. Da ist meines Erachtens noch Geduld angesagt. Wurde immer besser, am Anfang eher spröde und enttäuschend, im Lauf des Abends dann immer interessanter. Entweder lange karaffieren oder warten.

Strawberry, raspberry, red currants on the nose. Very light colour, light body, light tannin, very fragrant, floral. Medium complexity. Such a strong mineral core, but has a feathery fealing about it. Will surely improve even further. (91+)

Light red color. On the nose red berry fruit, a slight note smoke/ash. Very light, fresh fruit, good acidity. Firm structure, nicely balanced and elegant. Develops some pepper notes in the glass over time. Stunning wine.

Lighter in color than 2011 and 2012, but better than both. Cool redcurrant like fruit and minerals on the nose. Intense fruit in the mouth, tight and tart. Clean and concentrated. A great wine.
