Inconceivable to me that this wine commands the prices it does. It's certainly adequate and the grape is uniquely well-suited to pair with otherwise difficult foods, but even the best gruners (and this may be one of them) are - to my palate, anyway - rather one dimensional, lacking nuance in aroma, texture, and taste. I didn't hate this wine, and I appreciated that it complemented an assertive vegetarian entree, but c'mon, it's a gruner... profundity just doesn't live here. Not rated because I clearly just don't get it.

Outstanding and consistent with previous notes. Note to self: Serve this late in a meal or sequence of wines rather than early. The relatively late harvest high alcohol nature of the wine is not well suited for an unprimed palate. Upon returning to it after several other wines, this wine really showed its stuff.

Outstanding! Fanstastic nose (fennel plus the usual white pepper), great medium mid palate (lots of both stone and fruit) and a long peppery finish. Perfect on its own, but will no doubt pair great with pork as well.

Lovely mature Gruner with secondary abundance and still ripe notes of green apple and peppers.
