This is the last of the 2009/10 Fall Line Winery, single vineyard offerings purchased from Garagiste back in 2015. Although none of them “blew me away”, all were solid and well worth the $20 price. Definitely old school, very Bordeaux like, leading with earth tones, barnyard funk, muddy earth, ground all spice, stewed cherries, cooked blackberries, cooked blueberries, dried tobacco, worn leather, and dried chocolate. Gritty tannins and an acidic core provide a solid foundation to support cellaring for 10-15 years. Medium plus finish. Very good. Drink now.

Yakima, Wash., 2010 Fall Line Winery Bordeaux Blend Red Willow Vineyard ($20 in 2014). Improved with age. Blend 38% Cab Franc, 36 Merlot, 26 Cab Sauv. Sharp mid-dark garnet, brick edges; herbaceous, ripe grape, berries, red fruit and mint nose; balanced; medium acids, tannins; good fruit and structure; long red fruit finish, hint of wood. 17 UC Davis scale, 92 other scales.

This is excellent. Red berry fruitiness remains lively and fresh at age 10. Some subtle notes of cocoa and black licorice. Fine tannins linger, so no hurry.

Mature but still lots of life. Deep ruby, full bodied. Dominated by tertiary notes with earth tones leading the way: barnyard funk, muddy earth, ground all spice, stewed cherries, cooked blackberries, cooked blueberries, dried tobacco, worn leather, and dried chocolate. Grainy tannins and an acidic core are providing a solid foundation to keep this going. Medium finish. Drink within the next 1-2 years as further cellaring is unlikely to help improve this wine.
