I maybe never had a "proper" Beaujolais, but I found this very similar to the nouveau version with candy, strawberry and grapey aromas. In the mouth of course it's more intense (medium to medium+ body) and it manages to show some tannins and a medium acidity. Not exciting, but given its inspiring name it could made a good choice for St. Valentine's day or any similar anniversary, especially if your partner is not that used to drinking.

Glengarry Grand Tasting - Day 1; 8/29/2014-9/1/2014 (Glengarry Wines and Spirits, Victoria Park, Auckland, New Zealand): Slightly closed. A bit more serious than the village 2013 tasted before. The wine is good but strikes me as slightly unbalanced.

Lots of red fruit, raspberries and strawberries, some black pepper. Low in tannins, high in fruit acids.
