Ruby hue, combination of red fruits and savoury aromas, well balanced but surprisingly and ultimately depreciably thin. Enjoyed with a cheeseboard, good but not great, and in truth a little disappointing by Awatea standards.

medium ruby-red, light on rim. ripe blackberry and red cherry, however rather dominating sweet oak and high acidity let the wine down a bit. not a great awatea. drink now-2020.

Consumed Feb 2015. Even though 2011 was an uninspiring vintage for BB's in Hawkes Bay, this wine failed to live up to expectations from this producer. Lacked body and structure and showed no indications of character that would lead to positive bottle development in the future. Very much a quaffer and not for the cellar. Drink now
