  • let me preface the review by saying the dry white cuvee by YY is one of my favorite whites in the world- france included(!). However this bottle, despite its excellent top neck fill, was mildly oxidised and faded. Palate is lush, viscous and still alive. But nose is too flat for my liking- oxidised barrel aromatics, caramel, dried pineapple etc. I also note the mushiness of the cork. Maybe they need to switch suppliers

  • Colour looks great. Very tired though straight out of the bottle. Bit oxidised I think. Characters of old browning pineapple and maple syrup. Not much fruit left. Has a sense of hollowness on the palate, structurally not much holding up the tangy acid and little bit of oak spice. Perhaps a bit of cork taint here too. Past it.

  • Honey suckle, lemon tart, custard apple, just a slight petroleum, hint of mandarin.Round acid but still very structured, strong lemon sherbet without detracting from the beautiful, syrupy aged mouth quality, sugar syrup, deep deep richness of caramel semillion starting to come through.
Long and punchy on major palates. Not linear (still too rounded mouth feel for that), but perfectly balanced at all palate points and rewardingly long.

I must admit that this is getting pretty close to perfection for the wines that I like, hence the high score. Probably has a couple more years on it, but I wouldn't go more than 5 to ensure that the fruit still remains to carry the secondary characteristics which are in perfect balance right now.
