  • Barely translucent ruby. On opening, an immediate release of potent, fresh scents of earthy berry, beef blood, saline, rose petal. Layers of delicious and ripe red raspberry fruit cut with brier, iron, and earth on the charged palate. Bright acidity and firm but accessible tannin. Long, memorable finish of red and black berry fruit, noble iron, and spice-laden fine earth. Exuberant, refined, superlative wine.

  • There's some Indian spice to the aroma along with pine needles and ripe cherry and berry fruits. It is luscious and a little chunky in the mouth, with a core of liqueur cherry. It has meaty and earthy things playing in the background and is cut by the vintage's brisk acidity. It drinks very well and is in a very good place right now.

  • Popped and poured. Dark ruby hue. Healthy smells of fresh florals, iodine, black cherry, raspberry. Youthfully imploded but with time yielding layers of tart raspberry, mineral, and bing cherry on the palate with a medicinal note and a degree of over-ripeness. High acidity with a bit of spritz; tannins quite structured. Finish is moderate in length with pure, clean primary fruit overlying hard structure. Hard to know how this will turn out but the wine is showing well at the moment. Not sure I will buy more.
