What a great bottle of wine. Rich aromas of black cherry, blackberry, spice, and vanilla. Similar flavors, with the addition of some cedar and tobacco. Still firm tannins, but not overpowering. Definitely still fruit driven, but very balanced with secondary flavors. Sad this is my last bottle.

Getting better with time. Full and lively. Strong black fruit nose with roasted meat and river rock notes. Some vanilla also. Similar flavors--still fruit driven, but more of the subtleties are coming out. Full bodied. Phenomenal finish.

I stand by my earlier notes. This is a good wine. The nose is spicier now, but the fruit still comes through. Smooth but rugged...will last a while yet.

January in Walla Walla; 1/25/2013-1/27/2013 (Walla Walla, WA): Kontos has a way with syrah, and it really shows through here. As opposed to the Tate from the same vintage year, this is more of a fruit driven wine (most of the fruit comes from Les Collines Vineyard). Think strong red fruit and some spice box as an accompaniment.
