One-hour decant through a screened and aerating funnel. Boysenberry aromas during decant. Wine was clear, still dark bowl to rim. After resting: nose had calmed down to a cranberry-blackberry mix with a bamboo overlay. In the mouth: blackberry, blueberry, smoke and cedar. Lots of fruit, lots of acid. Needs some food that won’t be overwhelmed. Had with smoked beef rib served with a tabasco molasses sauce. Great match.

From mag. Summer BBQ Kick Off Party, along with dozen other wines, mostly from mag. Best of show for me. Clean blue fruit dominates. Great balance, perfect food match, spicy, lengthy finish. Very satisfying.

PnP for Thanksgiving dinner. No detailed notes. Opened up in 20 minutes. Medium plus body. Cranberry, with hints of tart cherry. Spice with some anise. Perfect pairing with turkey, sausage stuffing and a lemony gravy.

No detailed notes. Pen ink on the nose. On the palate, black and blue fruit with light black pepper and herbal spice, with light tannins and strong acidity on the medium to long finish. The high alcohol is not noticeable. This is good for at least two or three more years; the Cellartracker drinking window is too short. It was an average value at a little under $50.
