  • Colour: dark cherry red, perhaps a touch of brick red
Nose: plum, rose hip, cranberry, perhaps cherry. Mandarin peel Black and green peppercorn, salami. Black tea. Sweet spice, cinnamon, star anise. Liquorice. Cigar box, oak, tobacco leaf. Earthy.
Palate: black cherry, mulberry, plum, cranberry. Mandarin, mandarin peel. Black tea. Sweet spice. Cigar box, oak, tobacco leaf. Liquorice. Dark chocolate. Earthy. Still seems very young, hard to believe it’s nine years old. Moderate smooth acidity, chunky structural drying tannins, gradually smoothing out. Lovely. Shame it’s my last bottle... Medium to full bodied, 13,5% alcohol.

  • Colour: dark cherry red (perhaps -- difficult to tell due to a power cut!)
Nose: plum, rosella jam, cranberry, pomegranate. Leather. Earthy. Dried, preserved fruit leather/strips. Sweet spice (cloves?), old cedary oak.
Palate: plum? pomegranate. Tamarillo? Leather. Earth. Peppercorn. Sweet spice. Cedary old oak. With air, mandarin peel, mandarin. Fine, drying tannins. Fresh, berry-like acidity. Seems very young for its age--wouldn't have picked it as being 9 years old. Very fresh and lively. Lovely! Would love to see this in another ten years or so. 13,5% alcohol, medium to full bodied.

  • Clean high intensity ruby with purple rim. Clean low intensity nose, ripe red fruit and vanilla. Dry, powerful attack, high tannins, medium-high acidity, medium-high body, medium structure, astringent, fleshy, good amplitude. Medium duration and intensity afertaste.

  • Decent price for style @ local provincial store. Fruit forward style. Rich. But has plenty of tart acid and coating (light/med) tannin to balance. Hot on mid and finish with tart fruit quality. Without food to tame this, is pretty hard on palate to descern the underlying complexity of components which i am hoping are there...would think this would do well to sit in bottle till at least summer 2013.
