  • Zalto Burgundy glass over two days- recorked without gas.
This wine is at the tail end of its primary window and just starting to gain some nice tertiary aromas and flavors.
Day one and the wine was plenty fresh and primary, though today on day two and the primary notes start to be subsumed by the tertiary characteristics.
Aromas of tarragon and tomatoes lay over plums and blackberries.
The palate is rich and spicy, with dark fruits, tarragon and spice coming through, though it finishes savory with reduced tomatoes and balsamic umami notes.
There is plenty of acid lingering around both in the body of the wine and on the edges of the tongue. The tannins themselves are completely integrated, showing up only as a mild drying tea sensation on the finish.
Drink now if you’d like the last of the primary fruit characteristics, or hold if you prefer the savory tertiary development. The acid and structure will go at least another 5 years.

  • PnP, consumed over three nights. Best showing was on night three; on initial pour, this bottle was tannic and disjointed. With air, it really pulled together and turned into something nice. Significant sediment, so either decant or pour carefully.

  • Decanted for 1 hour. Dark crimson color. Nose of spicy blackberry and black cherry aromas with a bit of toasty oak and pepper. Similar flavors on the palate with a full bodied mouthfeel and very good dark fruit core. Medium acid and tannin. Creamy texture on the finish, mostly from the oak. Very well integrated and drinking great right now. Paired perfectly with a roast lamb saddle.

  • Not an in your face, fruit forward, syrah, but has structure and layers completing the dark fruit flavors. Add a little earth, a little tar, a little dark and brooding and a long finish and you pretty much sum up this still very fresh tasting wine,

  • Ran through the Menu aerating decanter and then back into the bottle. Great nose of black fruit, olive, cracked pepper. Crisp acidity, creamy mouthfeel, and flavors of black cherry, plum and dark chocolate. Touches of espresso and cherry pie on the back. So well-made, and absolutely delicious. Wish I had more...drink now with air - 2025.
