Shaw and Smith (Adelaide Hills): [Winery aged release] Medium lemon color, deeper than the 2015. More faint lemon on palate and cleaner nose and palate than current releases. Rich lemon on palate, but crisper and leaner than either 2015. Apparently from a troubled, rained-out vintage that led to some dilution, but that can be a good thing for New World chardonnay for my palate.

Shaw and Smith Chardonnay workshop (Oak Barrel, Elizabeth Street, Sydney): Colour: Lemon green, medium minus intensity, clear Nose: Medium minus intensity, youthful, clean, peach and apple, rose almost lychee, sweet spice; cinnamon Mouth: Medium plus acidity, phenolic grip especially on the gums, lemon, apple but warm. The taut acidity carries on the medium plus length that finishes very slightly bitter. Nice and very atypical

Pale straw colour. Mild toasted almond and bread flavours, hints of apricot on the nose. Light to medium mouthfeel with subtle acid. Very pleasant.
