Ruby core - fade at the rim; dark cassis notes on the nose and pencil lead. Some red cherry. Black cherry. Nicely inviting and expressive; medium body, good weight, lovely mouth feel. Tannins very fine - well made. This is an excellent 2004. Decent length too.

La Louvière and Couhins Lurton: verticals in red and white (Château La Louvière): Riper nose than the 2007. Fuller body. Plum and some earthy elements but sweet and tasty. Riper and more pleasing on the palate than the 2007, with a smoother aspect. But the tannins are a bit rough and - by comparison - the 2001 kicks the 2004's ass.

First signs of age and oxidation on this bottle of Chateau La Louviere 2004. Slightly oxidized fruit of red cherries, quite herbal and vegetal, tobacco notes, some licorice, some coffee, interesting iron flavors, the tannins are soft, this is quite opulent on the attack but it somehow lacks a mid-palate and the finish is rather short. A rather sharp acidity reduces the drinking pleasure. This has some interesting features but lacks balance, structure and depth. No need to age this any longer. - 86 points

Better on the nose, with its smoky, red fruits, earth and spicy aromas, than on the soft, medium bodied, almost light, red berry finish.

Quel joli vin! Bu à Bruxelles au restaurant Brasero. Très jolie découverte. Et son pendant en rouge est très bon aussi.
