For a 25 year old merlot I bought for $14.99, this surprised me when opened earlier this evening. Silky smooth, with light cherries and blueberries on the nose, with some smokey dark berries, chocolate, earthy notes with light tannins in the finish. Lovely with the hanger steak we cooked for dinner.

Aged beautifully. Tasty black cherry fruit, very smooth drinking, good dark color, and excellent integration. Outstanding with pasta sauced by sliced fingerling sausage, tomato sauce, and eggplant. Demonstrates how a wine may be made to drink well young yet still get even better with age.

Beautiful dark color, and terrific nose of cherries with a hint of pepper. Obviously, not a wine that will beat you up, but velvety with nice acidity. Surprising length for a 6 year old merlot as well. This should go well with chicken and dumplings. We'll see.

Way past its prime. The nose was great with lots of raspberry but hte flavor was flat and thin.

Tart and acidic. Notes of roasted bell peppers, blackberries and stale coffee beans. Fruit is dried up and faded.
