This wine has been cellared for 7 years and the improvement is amazing. Where it was once fairly simple, it is now rather complex. A rich, bold merlot (rather unique combination), ripe red fruit, silky tannins, breat balance, nice finish.

Paired with grilled sirloins. Licorice and dark fruits on the nose and palate with a slight hint of oak. Minimal finish. There are better Merlots at this price point.

76% Merlot, 11% Cab Sauv, 8% Syrah, 3% Cab Franc, 2% Sangiovese. I can’t quite figure this one out. Great nose. Initially shows an incredible amount of tannins for a 5 year old merlot – not particularly pleasant. Mellowed out after a few hours, which allowed some very nice black cherry and other dark fruit flavors to come through. Good oak on the medium-long finish. Unquestionably, better values in Columbia Valley Merlot exist for the price, but after calming down this proved to be a very drinkable – and even enjoyable – wine.

Fine for the price. Oak is saving it from a structure point of view, just enough fruit for some balance
