This was a double blind horizontal tasting by Mike, across four bottlings. This wine had a deep red/purple center with red/orange rims. The medium+ intensity nose offered up cherries, cola, minerals, and some plum.
In the mouth, while beautifully balanced, this was a rich, thick wine with firm acidity, rounded tannin, and great length. While the Griotte bottling is not listed as V.V., I would be shocked if it was not from old vines given the intensity of the wine.
I don't know why previous tasters did not see the majesty in this wine. Maybe those bottles did not receive enough air? Possible bottle variation? All I can say was that this bottle was stunning.

Muddled but rich fruit with hints of both focused energy and gaminess. Better than expected.
