Not Brian’s usual color for his pinots. This is more maroon. Plenty of black cherries teaberry, and cinnamon on the nose and attack, but it just doesn’t hold up to the 2009 Ampelos Rho. This is a much thinner wine that the Ampelos Rho (which is beautiful, not jammy and not syrupy). The fruit is fine, but a bit thin. As noted previously, the first and last sip are very similar; this is not a wine the evolves in the glass. Compared to my other notes, I suspect the fruit is fading a touch. Drink now. 14.3% alc. With grilled ahi tuna. 06.08.23. Recommended with Reservations.

The color of this wine is different from Brian’s usual deep, opaque purple-red. This is more of a translucent ruby. The nose delivers cherries, Dr. Pepper, cloves, cinnamon and orange zest. The palate replicates the nose. The fruit is sweet and satisfying as most of Brian’s wines are. The first and last sip are very similar; this is not a wine the evolves in the glass. But it is a fulsome wine. 14.3% alc. With roasted salmon under walnuts. 06.02.22. Recommended.

Ruby red color, clear rim. Nice strawberry and raspberry on the nose, confirmed in the mouth. Some spice, almost tart, but still balanced. Long finish.

Really good on the palate, classic CA Pinot, lots of fruit and just great on the palate with an outdoor concert.
