I went into this with low expectations given the notes here but was pleasantly surprised. I agree on first pour it is a bit grapey and thin. But with a couple hours of air was drinking beautifully. I wish I had written this note the next day because I can’t be very descriptive other than it was dark in color, had plenty of fruit left, became more complex over time, still noticeable tannins and acid. I coravined only 2 glasses of this and was wanting more, looking forward to finishing the bottle soon!
Slightly better showing than previous note but similar to Yack Man, it doesn't live up to the pedigree even though at first decant you think it will. Was a bit more open this time but blind I would not think this is beckstoffer fruit, the concentration and purity just isn't there.

This 2010 Janzen Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper started out by appearance to be very promising, but things went south fast. Beautiful dark, deep ruby, reddish purple color with a soft nose. I thought that this wine would be a monster with great extraction, but no, it tasted nothing like it appeared, it was a mirage, quite disappointing. This Cab was very hollow with suppressed flavor and no depth. On the palate, the wine never really opened up, it was very tight despite being opened for a few hours in the bottle but not decanted. Day 2, no improvement honestly. For an 8 year old Beckstoffer, this wine was substandard considering its pedigree.

Decent, but not great for the price point. Right now the oak is too heavy handed, may be better when more integrated however the fruit has subsided a bit so I'm not sure how much better this will get. At the same time, it was a very lush wine, great mid-palate and full flavor profile. Good/decent thus 90.

Decanted two hours. Still drinking very young. Chewy big tannins, rich fruit, great balance.
