Finishing up my ME Olivet Lane vertical of 2007-2012. Other than the 2007 ... I waited too long to open these bottles. The 2011 was typical of everything but the 2007 (go figure). The characteristic brightness of Merry Edwards Pinot Noir was just missing from 2008-2012. You can tell this was a fine PN in its drinking window. Dark fruits (bing cherry and raspberrry) and spice ... with some Burgundian elegance. It's just that the defining edges to the wines character have rounded off with age.

Brilliant ruby red in the glass. The nose is classic RRV: red fruit and spiced wood. The palate is dark cherry with a deep, long finish. The problem: it's still too hot with alcohol. Maybe it'll calm down by day 2. Stay tuned!
Maybe it'll calm down? Nope. Still hot.

Clearly I must have had an off bottle from my last tasting note, because this was singing. sweet strawberry and cherry on the nose. rich medium+ pallet of bright red fruit and Asian spice. This has developed nicely from a vintage that had somewhat mixed results....speaks to the quality of Olivet Lane fruit. No need to wait on this...it's ready but seems it can last for many more years before any noticeable decline.

Solid red fruit baking spice and some orange peel. Acid is fading...probably drink up in next 12-18 months for best experience
