Wow this bottle of GE was floral, red fruited and weightless. Nose exhibited wilted roses, perfume, tea and red fruit. Palate showed alluring red fruit sweetness. It is drinking beautifully at peak. Laurent made some of the best 96s. 93-94

Sourced from Desaunay Bissey old vines. They have been a long term source of Laurent for both Echezeaux and GE.
This is my first Laurent GE. It is fully resolved and the oak fully integrated. Comments range that there was some sauvage and smoke on the nose. Most guesses went to Gevrey for this which makes sense as this didn’t have the finesse of Grand Cru from Vosne(agree with the previous reviewer). That being said, it was terrific wine, with very precise flavors. Was drinking pretty much at peak but not at all close to falling over. Worth the price tag but not at current prices.

Yvelin's birthday at Kolabo: Classic Laurent nose of ripe dark cherries with a hint of cola from the integrated oak. The person who brought this noticed that I usually guess Vosne for Laurent wines but this time I went for Gevrey with savoury and meaty notes when it turned out to be a Vosne! Initially I thought this lacked the elegance of the CSJ alongside but it pulled ahead with air with its stature and depth of fruit.

Miscellaneous Wines with Friends During La Paulée Week-Burgundy and Others; 3/8/2017-3/11/2017 (Various Dining Spots, New York): Medium ruby with little fading. Gamy red fruit with enough brett to add complexity and excitement without rendering the aromas unpalatably barnyardy. Medium weight, not that large. Tart berry, some earth, rising celery and fennel, light tannins. Interesting and very flavorful if somewhat short of what one expects from a Vosne Grand Cru.
