Heady aromas with loads of petrichor, rusted iron, some coffee grounds, and a twist of figgy sur-maturite. I don't know why I expected a slathering fruit bomb on the palate but that's not what you get - it is dark, but that rustiness gives the fruit a slightly austere cast. The tannins are fairly refined though, at least after some time to stretch its legs.

I don’t have a lot of 2012 Bordeaux in my cellar and I tried this vintage from La Mondotte for the first time and I can say that I’m positively surprised. It’s already in a good shape and it’s way better than I hoped. Black cherries, licorice, truffles and fresh forest floor on the palate. Medium (+) bodied with a medium acidity. Polished tannins which are already integrated nicely. Concentrated und complex but not overdone. Great balance. Nice medium long and savory finish. Good to drink now and it will stay here for a while. But it’s not a wine for the ultra long haul. (IG)

Bright dark ruby. This is quite exciting compared with the Evangile 2011. Lovely ripe dark fruit already showing. Some cocoa and spice notes. Lovely mouthfeel, glossy and morish. Good freshness and refreshing and uplifting. Not overdone or overblown or over extracted. Great balance and silky smooth finish despite its obvious youth. Lots of upside from here.

Truffle, burning wood, smoke, incense and plum create the bouquet. Pure, stony, fresh, long and concentrated, the wine is plush, tannic and rich, demanding at least a decade before it comes together, softens and offers it complexities.

Tasted at the chateau. Another surprise from a supposedly lean vintage. Very full and dense nose of dark fruit, coffee, chocolate and wet stones. The palate, will forward and modern in style had a nice earthiness. The tannin was present, but buttressed by the fruit. This will last a long time.
