  • More fruit driven than earth driven, however overall in balance. Paired well with a salmon with a green tea, salt and pepper blend on top.

  • Red rim, black centre. Huge alcoholic nose. Big body, massive fruit. Unapologetically fruit filled. Wonderful body and concentration. Susana at her best. Great, chewy mouthful of Malbec. Delicious.

  • As heavy as the bottle, but great mix of flavours. Very popular with all who tried it. Full of fruit, well balanced, confident and enjoyable. Good five years in it, but going to run out earlier than that.

  • Still purple rim and opaque centre. Fruit dominant, juicy brambles, hint of jam. Tannin more evident in the mouth. Some vanilla in the aftertaste. Full, warming and enjoyable, but still quite one dimensional. Leaving a year to the next one.

  • We hustled over to the Hong Kong Jockey Club (also needed to recycle) to pick of one of each of their Wines of the Month from Argentina. We rarely see wines from Argentina so we thought this would be an interesting opportunity to sip 'n learn...while snacking, of course.

Really, a blend of 50% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah, 10% Tannat, 5% Petit Verdot, 5% Bonarda? We do not even know what is Bonarda!?

Nice, purple red on the eye. Attractive Aromas, nay, perfume of dark red fruit, chocolate, coffee and spicy oak (14 months in 100% new French oak). Hey, we know nothing about the blending strategy, but the nose is enticing. Alcohol, sadly, taking 3+ hours to fade into the balance. Hmmm...we often wonder why so much alcohol!? Dark fruits, fairly big tannins, heavy alcohol (darn, again) and healthy, long, lingering finish. A fundamentally yummy sip! Although not a “special” or “buy every year” example of The Noble Grape, we will happily sip this bottle with the guest who likely brought it to share at dinner or as a satisfying alternative to the higher-level wines that for many reasons should not be sipped everyday. Good color, pleasant nose, varying degrees of appropriate niceties (depends on the varietal or blend) on the palate and the sort of finish that politely responds, “Yes, I would be happy to sip another glass, thanks.”

QPR out of control fantabulous for the wine sipper who want something big, luscious and sipping well now...and for the next 4+ years! A winner!!! Good on ya, mates!
