Nose of sweet red and blue fruit with hints of chocolate and coffee. However the primary smell was that of oak; lots and lots of oak. On the palate it is a sweet, cloying, oaky mess. Soft tannins and very low acid. I needed something to balance the chimichurri sauce on the steaks but this was too sweet and too oaky. It lacked balance. Would not buy from this producer again.

Deep ruby w/ flecks of purple. Nose of dark red fruits, chocolate, dried herbs, potpourri, and oak notes. Suave on the palate w/ smooth, fine, tannins, medium acidity, dark red fruits, chocolate, and oak spice flavors, and unfortunately a notably short finish. There's a sexiness here, but the finish leaves me feeling a bit short-changed, especially at >$40. Tasty wine, but better in the $20s-30s.

One of my go-to favorites, vintage after vintage after vintage. There have been better years, but this is still a fantastic bottle. As always, HUGE mouthful of rich red fruit and mocha; interesting layer of candy or caramel on the nose. Big wine, but unusually sweet for the Expresivo. I'd take the '09 in a heartbeat, but I could easily drink this on a weekly basis.
