  • I was lucky enough to have a few of these in my cellar so I have opened another , well normal transmission has been resumed
The first was screw cap and this one under cork

Differences being a very dull appearance , no sparkle and the sourness on the nose and palate - so obviously the screw cap had failed

This Pinot Noir shows good depth of colour with a deep dark red black tinged core and a dark red hue. Perfumed aromas of ripe dark cherries and dark plums intermix with some violet followed by dried meat and light spicy oak notes. Medium bodied with good richness, power and a supplely textured mouthfeel the palate features flavours of ripe dark cherries and dark plum over a touch of anise and spicy toasted oak. Velvet smooth tannins. Long spicy dark cherry, dark plum, subtlety toasted oak and dried meats aftertaste.

Colour median Ruby , not as bright as previous bottles 14/15
Nose slightly muted nose good purity of fruit mainly red cherry, red current , strawberry, plums , some spice, some secondaries with hints of mushroom and gamey aromas 26/30
Palate good intensity . sweet upfront fruit with charry tannins, sour cherry mouth puckering tannins and acidity (35% new oak - a little than the average otago Pinot ) relatively short finish 37/44
Overall ,this is not as I remembered this wine, maybe undergoing some changes after 6 years in the bottle at the moment 9/11
