This baby gives old Coche and modern d'Auvenay a run for its matchstick gunflint aromatic explosion. The palate is true to Chenin, but with an intensity of fruit I simply haven't experienced from this varietal. Wow!

Richard Leroy makes one of the best Chenin Blanc I have ever tasted, complex and generous that can compete with White Burgundies. Les Noels de Montbenault comes from a 2 ha vineyard in Coteaux du Layon Faye-d’Anjou, old vines and low yields. This 2011 Richard Leroy Chenin Blanc reminds me of d’Auvenay Aligote, intense scent of buttery popcorn, guernsey butter, overripe lemon, orchard fruits, burnt toast and brioche. Much more natural than d’Auvenay style without filtering or fining. Nowadays a sought-after natural wine. (92/100)

Intoxicating mix of gunflint city and classic Chenin aromatics.

Petrol reduction good acidity, but not super concentrated. Beautiful. Lime. Fizzy on the palate. Nose is the killer but palate wasn't bad either.

As much reduction as I’ve ever seen, pure petrol on nose, massive white wine
