Another wine this week, like the Villard Les Terrasses du Palat that has developed nicely over the past year or so. As delicious to the eye with its pale yellow-gold, as it is to the palate with its quince and apricot flavors. I don’t know, but suspect that this sees some neutral oak treatment what with the way it spreads across the palate with a round mouthfeel. Nothing “bright” or “edgy” but delivering layers of fruit, limon, creamed corn and mineral. The finish is longer now than before too. 13% alc. With acorn squash stuffed with shrimp in an orange and thyme sauce. Recommended.

A pale yellow-gold drips from the bottle. A tightly knit nose of quince, faint boxwood, ripe apricot spreads its bouquet before you. On the palate is a rounder style of Sancerre. Neither edgy nor sharp, this Sauvignon Blanc delivers a softer styled wine. Unfortunately, it lacks the layers and depth and length that this style of Sancerre usually delivers. It’s a fine wine and welcome at the table, but it comes up a touch short. Perhaps it needs more time? I’ve not a clue. 13% alc. With three different chevre cheeses, ham relish, shrimp salad and crusty bread. Recommended, but with a glance in the direction of “with Reservations.”

Light lemony apricot; light nose; light acidity; elegant; decent finish.
