The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are fast. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like cherry and plum. The body is medium/full.
Really enjoyed this. Dark fruity flavors (black cherry, plum). Reminds me of old-world Bordeaux style wine rather than a typical California "amp it up" style.
Wish I had found this bottle in my cellar earlier to see how it was tasting closer to its peak. Still very enjoyable in 2020.

Consistent with earlier tasting notes when I wrote this was dark garnet colored, medium to full bodied, earth and leather predominate almost like a left bank Bordeaux, giving way to black cherry, black currant and black berry fruits accented by spice, cigar box and hints of cedar with firm lingering tannins.
I am going to run out of this wine way too soon. Old world in style but with Napa cab richness and depth. Definitely showing some age, but in a good way, with notes of cocoa, spice and earth complementing the rich cassis and dark berry flavors. Seamless and flawless on the palate with great balance, a rich mouthfeel and firm structure. A harmonious combination of power, complexity and grace together in the same glass. This is the 'real deal' and a pleasure to drink.

This bottle was much more bordeaux-like than a previous bottle. Complex nose of dark fruits, earth and oak along with plenty of barnyard aromas. More like a Gruaud-Larose than a Napa cab on the nose. The bordeaux-like characteristics carry over to the palate which is dark-fruited, complex, lean, concentrated, deeply flavored and seamless. Not quite as firmly structured as a previous bottle and overall seemed more balanced and integrated. Really lovely to drink.

This was simply terrific - big and bold with great depth, complexity, richness and concentration. Very much in the style of a traditional Napa cabernet with ripe, rich cassis and other dark fruits, a big, firm structure, full-body, velvety, smooth texture and a long finish. Adds aromas of tobacco and leather, and the fruits turn even darker after about an hour. This is an "in-your-face" style that somehow reminds me of many of the big Napa cabernets of the mid-to late 80's and 90's.
