{screwcap, 13%} Bright hard cherry and spice aromas, almost of white pepper. Low/medium gritty tannins, medium/high acid, medium body; a savoury, textural wine rather than one riding on fruit. Doesn’t seem to have evolved terribly since youth, will probably cellar for an age but I’m not sure there’s really the fruit depth to reward it.

{screwcap, 13%} Still a vivid crimson red. Slightly developing nose of brine, cherry, light plum, and a light savoury character. Can a red smell like watermelon? Palate is dry, light/medium-bodied, with sour cherry, salt and sand flavours. Fine, sandy, low/medium tannins, drying and seemingly grape-derived rather than wood; oak character is almost absent. Medium length finish, on the light side, drinkable enough but stil and age away from full maturity.
Christmas Lunch with family: Cranberry, Ash and tobacco, black cherry. Quite ripe and rich flavours, with black and red fruits both pushing through strongly. A little in between age wise, but still on a good path.

Not a lot of complex on first tasting - but very pleasant.

Quite acidic early which eased. Not a typical Hunter (no leathery notes) but pleasant in a medium-bodied dry red style.
