20 years old, surprisingly fresh! Tasted like Sauternes light. Peaches, honey, some white flowers and a touch of candied orange peel and some very light forest floor notes in the far distance. Medium finish with some oxidation notes on the end. First time trying this style and wanted to try a younger one because I have some 80s vintages in the cellar that I'm still aging. Not disappointed at all and can't wait to try and 40 year old ones soon!

Home of Food Festival (Lord's): A big wine - epic nose, a lot going on, expansive on the palate - one can feel the heat of the vintage, one just feels that a bit more acidity would bring it into line.

Gosh, this is very impressive wine. Generous, warm blood orange, red cherry compote, peach jam, real intensity here and the acidity is in balance and well handled in my hedonistic viewpoint. Slight torréfaction on the back end but this comes across well and very fresh. Full on fat texture.

Moulin Touchais Coteaux du Layon Vertical Tasting (Le Petit Sommelier): Very restraint nose, ripe orange zest and flesh, sweet floral notes and ripe pear. The palate is rich again but balanced, following the profile of the nose, pear, lime, citrus, very light notes of red apple, long finish. Outstanding

From a multi-vintage assortment case. Was really curious to try this wine in its youth (just two years after release). Nose of bubblegum, flowers, honey, spice; a little closed compared to other vintages I have tried, but still expressive. In the mouth it is nicely poised with great freshness, but less acidity than I was expecting given the very high acids of other vintages. Quite different to what I was expecting but still a wine of great class and promise.

Moulin Touchais: A retrospective tasing conducted by Frederik Wilbrenninck and Richard Kelley MW; 6/26/2018-6/27/2018 (The Institute of Masters of Wine, London SW11): 100% passerillage grapes, no botrytis in this heatwave vintage. 'It would have been fantastic with just a bit more acidity.' says Frederik Wilbrenninck.
