On the nose nothing special. Golden brown colour. Nice round body and bouquet. Complexity and in combination with that sweetness is rounded, in total à very nice experience.

There is something amazingly reassuring and consistent about Moulin Touchais. Even in indifferent vintages and at this age, always value and worthwhile.

Terroir-istes International - France, Loire Whites (Groot Constantia): (Tasted Blind): Deep gold, the nose is intriguing with almond paste, fungi, button mushroom, marmite and twiglets. Complex. The entry is a rich, fluid, sweet mouthfeel with a sticky sensation on the back palate. There is some crisp acidity, but the wine is heavy and slightly clumsy. Notes of brown sugar and fungi mix with a savoury marmite to some roasted nuts, but the RS is higher more towards Bonnezeaux than Coteau du Layon. However, it revealed more layers and concentration in glass, improving its score.

Un vin plus vieux que moi enfin! Au goût c'est bien puissant et bien équilibré. Arômes de coing amandes citron et cire d'abeilles. Acidité élevé mais bien balancé avec le sucré. Très bonne longueur en bouche.

Moulin Touchais: A retrospective tasing conducted by Frederik Wilbrenninck and Richard Kelley MW; 6/26/2018-6/27/2018 (The Institute of Masters of Wine, London SW11): Umami, marmite, miso paste on the nose. The palate has very fresh acidity, lots of youthful fruit underneath, tonnes of energy, a really big surprise! Definite amontillado/palo cortardo flavour in a toasting hazelnuts in a pan kind of way. Enveloping and savoury. Fascinating old wine with life in it yet.
