Weekly tasting group #129; Portugal (@ SB): The bouquet is still reticent, but there are white fruits, grasses, hay and minerals. Also the palate is still locked and there is a very firm amount of acidity. Also a bit salty impressions. Give this enough air or wait a few years. For today 86+.

No formal notes. Had this days after one of the normal Soalheiro Alvarinho. The Primeiras Vinhas was much more austere and not as fruit salad dominated as the basic bottling. I don't think that the Primeiras Vinhas is really an improvement that deserves double the price.

Smell: fragrant ripe peaches, floral, citrus. Taste: Ripe stone fruits & melons, slight minerals, slight grapefruit, hint of vanilla. The ripe fruit flavors dominate over the the minerals & acidity, making the overall taste a bit heavy with noticeable RS. If you're looking for a lean & tight white wine, look elsewhere.
