  • #tcastudy (should have been old Prum night): After the array of corked bottles preceding this, I spent the first five minutes wondering and second-guessing myself on whether there was TCA here. Thankfully, none. It's a very pretty wine, though surprisingly light and delicate for the pradikat with very pale, understated citrus and baked apple fruit, gentle honeyed and smoky aromas framing the fruit, and an understated stony minerality on the back end, although it falls off a touch on the finish. Very enjoyable, though I get the impression it's a few years past its peak.

  • TCA (Prüm) study (Chicago, IL): #09-76. Initially, I had some worries this was like the Wehlener Kabinett -- this seemed a bit of a dull thud in terms of excitement, with lots of acid but not really much else. But this didn't develop any signs of TCA, and actually seemed to pick up a little more depth with air. Interestingly, this doesn't have the heft I'd expect from a Spätlese, and actually feels more like a Kabinett. There's a lovely freshness and brightness to the fruit and acid here. It's not mindblowing, but this really does taste like a solid old Prüm.

  • My last bottle and I had low expectations given its age, but was I surprised. Absolutely no sign of age. Color of straw; highly perfumed, with honey and a bit of kerosene on the nose which followed through on the palette; excellent acidity and, surprisingly a hint of pétillance. I would have guessed that this was a 2009 or 2011 not a 1975 given its freshness.
