  • Tasted at the wine house in Bernkastel. Golden yellow color in the glass. Had the normal petrol nose along with honeysuckle and white peach. Tastes followed suit with honey, candied lemon drops, and a slight hint of peppermint. Unctuous mouthfeel with bright acidity and a medium long finish. Very young. Will last a good 15-20 years in the bottle.

  • Drinking very nicely right now, complex nose, long finish, delicious

  • Lower pitched ripe stone fruit and an herbal note on the nose. Rich, pure orange and yellow apple, sweeter than the Bernkasteler Badstube Spätlese, less mineral, lower acidity. This is rather simple right now.

  • You can def smell a touch of the struck match here. Still needs years to open, but the palate is all generous Prum.

  • Decided to pop one tonight instead of letting it age. Fortunately I did, because the cork was not in good shape, and the fill line was at least half way through. Which reminded me of when I opened a 2014 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett JJP earlier this year and the fill went through to the top of the cork (fortunately the wine was not damaged). Oh well, pseudo infanticide! However what a lovely wine, petroleum wax, nuance lemon and apples, a very slight almost unnoticed micro effervescence (or at least the feel of it), a good amount of sweetness countered by acidity and tartness that kept it from overwhelming, and with the proper food pairing, this was more pleasant and seemingly less sweet. Enjoyed this with a Peking Duck dinner with crispy sweet shrimp, sweet and sour fish, and naturally held up fine to the fermented smokey bean sauce (actually it was more sweet than smokey, it was not hoisin sauce). While this can age effortlessly with a good cork, no harm in drinking it now, especially if you have richer food/sauces and this has acidity in spades. So now I guess I have to open my other 2018 JJPs...and I fear for the 2015 JJP WS Auslese....
