Decidedly oldschool with good freshness, nice fruit intensity and gentle tannic grip in a light frame. Drinks beautifully in this first stage of development, with a long way to go.

Exceptional Poulsard from Puffeney. Serious nose of cranberry fruit, roses and just a touch of orange. Firmly structured palate of dried fruits and flowers, lots of material here. Nebbiolo character almost. Still a bit of tannins that need to resolve. A great, unique wine. Makes me sad to think about Puffeney's retirement.

I do love this wine of many moods, each as it should be. Easy going and light; intense on examination; ditsy; built; serious; mature and youthful; casually celebratory.

Last bottle. Drinking so well. If you have the willpower, take Finare Vinare's advice and try holding until 2020.

A structured style of poulsard that drinks well now, but obviously is made for keeping. We look forward to enjoying the mature version 2020-2025.
