  • Part 2 Produttori del Barbaresco 2009 horizontal. Aired in bottle few hours beforehand. Tasted semi-blind. Drank in Conterno Sensory.
Appearance is clear, very pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of red spices, fragrant tar and earth, pretty red cherries. Developing.
On the palate, dry, very high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), fine structured high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of open-knit sweet red cherries, sweet spices, intense red licorice, more classic sour red cherries with more air. Long finish.
Very good quality. Expressive and showing quite well already. Can age too. Lovely performance.

  • Slow ox one. Nice nose of black cherry, tar and spice. The wine is full bodied, a little chewy with some unresolved tannin. Quite serious, a little rustic, classically styled. All in all this is doing fine but its not spectacular.

  • Opened the bottle to the most amazing nose. Red fruit, flowers and chocolate. The palate was dark cherry, raspberry, cassis, sweet pipe tobacco, a little leather and some spices. The finish was slightly tannic and brought out mocha flavors which stopped me from rating it higher. It did not stop my wife and I from finishing the bottle and really enjoying it.

  • Consumed over 3 days. Was a piece of work and it remained unclear until the end whether or not this was a pristine bottle. I had quite some bottle variation with this wine with obvious flaws but also beautifully balanced ones. Bought from auction, so cant guarantee 100% that it was always stored properly, but heat damage does not seem the case here. Anyway, this had good flavour with notes of ripe cherry, dried herbs, coffee, toast and leather but was overshadowed by the tannins. Both flavour profile and tannins became more pronounced over the days. Underneath the tannins was a beautiful developing bouquet noticeable. It might be flawed or just in another sleepy phase. I for my part will leave my remaining bottles for (much) later.
