  • Initially a bit hubba bubba cinnamon paired with some roasty aromas. With air getting better. Spicy Pinot noir styled then. Smooth but fresh. Really nice after 2 hours.

  • Medium garnet colour. Red fruit, red cherry, forest and earthy notes, Black Forest ham, smoke/tar, spice and liquorice, with medium-level acidity, partly resolved tannin and very good length. The medium-bodied wine was a little rustic, mostly due to the slightly harsh unresolved tannin (from the oak as it seems), and slightly disjointed in acid/tannin combination, but light on its feet. A little smoother but less aromatic on day two. Based on preference, I would hold for another couple of years and continue drinking from 2025+. That said, it is rather unlikely that I will become a fan of the 2011 Mimus. 89+(?) for now.

  • One glass from Coravin: hach....., not having tasted a glass good+ german Spätburgunder (PN) for some time, this one is delicious, strong ripe strawberry, deep and a rich fruit showing, from the first class vineyard Winklerberg (1er Cru) this bottle shows some mineral saline touch, fine but strong tannin from the used toasted barrels, ending long, drink from now on and over the next 5+ years, ***(+-?)

  • Quite typical of a spatburgunder, with typical vegetal nose, medium to light bodied. Acidity was surprisingly low and alcohol was prominent. The finish was not too pleasant with bitter aftertaste.

  • [Mövenpick Tasting]

Nice and clear barnyard and raspberry despite its youth. Give it a couple of more years.

Yet, even though it is of course more balanced and round than Heger's own basic Merdinger Bühl Spätburgunder, it isn't nearly as much better than that one to motivate me to invest almost 3 times the amount. The Merdinger Bühl is quite sufficiently delightful to motivate me to buy it 3 times anytime you offer me the Mimus.
