Second bottle of a box of six. Medium to dark ruby colour. Red and dark berries, chocolate, cocoa, spice, and light balsamic notes, with good acidity, well-integrated tannin, and very good length. The oak has integrated better over the last two years. The medium-bodied wine is firm and restrained. There is a light cocoa bitterness on the finish that is quite intriguing. By day two, the acidity is a little more pronounced and the tannin is a little dryer. Should continue to develop and drink well over the medium term. Very good value.

First bottle of a case of six. Medium to dark ruby colour. The medium-bodied wine had average concentration and offered red fruit, red cherry, coffee, spices, coconut, vanilla and Creme Brûlée on the nose and palate, with medium-level acidity, ripe tannin and very good length. It showed lots of sweet, coconutty new oak, with some oak bitterness, but was smooth and in balance. Young, I would hold for at least another two years. Very good value.

Traditional Rioja, not very strong on the nose, but well rounded and ready to drink. Red ripe fruit, leather, spices , all with little touches, nothing standing out too much. Excellent with red meat, such as lamb.

From nemory at the Xara Palace in Malta. Initially very expressive with dark fruit and meat then quickly became simple with very short finish. Could have been a bad bottle. Or past its prime. Score withheld.
