Pale garnet. Nose of raspberries, stems characters, black olives and leather. Light to medium-bodied, the wine has a pronounced acidity that sits in the forefront, underlying flavours of dilute Ribena, olive tapenade and earth. Fine al dente tannins.
13% ABV. This wine is likely at its peak, enjoyable but probably not too much more to be gained from further cellaring, with the acidity likely to overtake things. This bottle was professionally cellared since release.

This bottle may have been a bit off - if in a strange way. Very light and acidic for Cote Rotie. Notes of red berry cranberry, with the passing note of black pepper and bacon. Not entirely bad, but strange compared to my other bottles.

Blind Syrahs at Chevalier (Chicago, IL): Tasted blind. Decidedly old world aromas of leather, smoked game, bacon and black pepper. Medium bodied with a smooth, inviting texture. Old world refinement.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chicago, IL): Served blind to the tasting group. Black cherry, black pepper, rich bacon fat, so quintessential Côte-Rôtie. Good weight and length, very charming and harmonious.

Very nice balance. Medium wight with more red than dark fruit. Black tea, pepper and flowers. Will keep another few but drinking well now too.
