Closed. Tasted over three nights. Dark fruited palate and a silky and refined mouthfeel, but tight. Opened a bit on the second night, but the tannins closed up on the third night. Hold four or five more years.

50 year-old vines from Drazey and Gamaires, near Morey-Saint-Denis. Crunchy red cherry, rhubarb, musk, baking spice, floral nose. Light-medium bodied but gains added depth. High toned with a firm, sweet/tart finish. While satisfying to the acid freak in me, I am inclined to cellar another year or two. Drink to 2024+.

89-90 pts

The wine takes on the positive aspects of the '10 & '11 vintages. Though it doesn't quite display the depth or concentration of the '10, it does possess the aromatic complexity of that wine, while offering the laser focus and crystalline purity that characterizes many '11s. Plenty of grip on the finish suggests this wine may need time to unwind.

Sweet red currant and candied florals. Soft and supple, nice acidity. Comes up a bit short on the finish.
