Pale garnet in the glass. Developing nose showing a combo of fresh and dried red fruit mostly with a splash of spice. Good, smooth Pinot Noir, but one without too much potential.

Vosne or Volnay?: This was quite dense with dark red fruit, but seemed a little light in structure at the same time without much depth. Quite old-school winemaking with rusticity but fruit became more expressive with time that gave it better balance. Thought this was a Volnay but turned out to be the ringer.

Garnet core, 3mm rim fading to white, no hint of brick red yet. Damson and embers on nose. Long legs. Cherry plus tinned strawberry initial palate, then tannic hit and good acidity. Drying finish, but well balanced, a touch shorter than hoped. Likely better in 5 years as tertiary kick in and tannin fades a touch more.
