Rlove’s note is on point. I agree as well that the strawberry on the nose is reminiscent of a hard candy. Many years (and many price increases!) since I last had this in my (relative) youth as a wine drinker. Really distinctive. Savory and fresh. I will have to pay 8x for another bottle of this in 20 years to see how this develops!

2010 Barolos at Terra Rossa with NLWTS (Terra Rossa, Upper Street): Dark ruby. Pronounced nose; sweetly spiced… star anise? Blue cheese?! Real depth beyond pure red fruit. Tiny bit warm; tannins still v serious; only likely to get better. Other end of the table thought that there was something slightly wrong with this - as it's my first bottle of Burlotto Monvigliero I have no idea! 92++

2010 Barolo (Terra Rossa, N1): Caveats out the way early - other tasters who have had this recently reckoned this bottle wasn't quite singing as it should. But in any case, I'm very grateful to have tried it at all.
Hard strawberry candy on the nose - extremely distinctive and, for me, slightly synthetic. Just a hint of sticky fresh tobacco: it's really quite primary and fruity. Very young on the palate: searing acidity and masses of sandy tannins. In the fantasy world where I have a case of this, I'd be giving it 10 years until opening the next one.

Gorgeous, open, typical nose of Verduno and Burlotto's whole cluster viticulture with strawberry, olive, earth, and pine needle on the nose. Medium bodied, bright acidity, red fruit & earth on the palate. Very good indeed.

Decanted, but a pretty lackluster showing for such a great wine. Nowhere near the positivity in my last tasting note. Bummer. Was hoping this would blow my friends minds.
