Decanted an hour before lunch then put back in bottle to travel to lunch. This wine changed fairly dramatically over 3 hours or so. When first opened it was nutty and smokey with some honeysuckle and apricot and seemed a touch oxidized. It was medium to deep golden yellow but not obviously oxidized. After about an hour it lost the smoke and most of the sense of oxidation and had a big lychee and apricot scent and flavor. It developed some chemical smell for a while like kerosene but this also faded. On the palate it was smooth as silk and like liquid honey. At the end it was honey, lychee and apricot. Nice medium long finish. Acidity all gone so I'm glad this is my last bottle. I was probably lucky this one turned out so well.

Opened to breathe (slow ox) for an hour before lunch. Fragrant lychees on the nose, just a hint of kerosene. Wow! On the palate intense caramel: not typical of gewurtz! No acid, just smooth and lingering, easy to drink. This is probably approaching the end of the road for this wine, a suspicion of oxidation but not pronounced. Today with flatbread and baked mussels (not the best pairing, I admit, missing the acid!).
