At Corella Restaurant, Woolloongabba. This is a deeply coloured wine with a serious nose of dark raspberries and plums, blueberries, dark chocolate and coffee bean, spice and earth. The palate is quite dense with a long fine profile of fruit and tannin that fans out nicely and proclaims 'serious'. A delicious wine that will certainly develop more depth and interest with cellaring.

Grand Cru or Not Grand Cru (Est. Private Dining Room): slight damp leaves, delicate, quite perfumed with strawberry fruit and earthiness, slight woody notes as well. In the mouth it's juicy and tangy with chewy tannins and slightly sharp strawberry fruit. Not as long as other wines in the bracket. Hmm from me.

Dinner with Virgile Lignier (Pied à Terre, London): Inky, rich, a minty tone, silky texture - easily the biggest deepest glossiest wine here tonight - superb

Meaty and inky with lots of licoricey-spice notes and ferrous quality.
